Referring Veterinarians

First of all, we'd like to say "Thank You!" We truly appreciate your trust in VES and are grateful for the cases you refer to us.

We view ourselves as complimenting your practice and serving as an extension of your clinic. With that in mind, we strive to keep you involved in your referral cases as much as possible. At the core of that effort is the delivery of timely medical and diagnostic results. After all, the pet is your patient and we realize that you have a need to know what's going on in order to keep your client fully informed.

We also want to be proactive and interactive, and are always looking to make improvements on our end in the referral process. If there's something we can do differently or better that would help make your job easier or more efficient, please let us know. We believe having an open and honest relationship is the best way to be productive in business.

Overnight Monitoring

With that in mind, a need for doctor supervised overnight post operative monitoring for stable patients has been brought to our attention. To meet this need, we have reinstated our overnight monitoring program.

Cost for this service will be a flat fee of $75.00 and billed directly to your clinic on a bi-weekly basis. The following items will be included in the flat fee.

• Exam by attending DVM's
• Overnight hospitalization
• Fluid administration (fluids, lines and catheter to be provided by referring clinic)
• Medication administration (medications to be provided by referring clinic or owner)
• One PCV/TP or Blood Glucose (additional labs may be run at your request for an additional fee)
• Heat support
• Feedings
• and TLC

Add a controlled drug injection to this service for a flat fee of $100. Clinics are still asked to call and discuss the case with our attending DVM so we can be prepared for your patients arrival. Again this program is intended for post operative stable patients, however, should complications arise, we are able and willing to treat the pets immediate needs. If the attending DVM feels additional care is required, we will need to know who to contact. We can communicate care needs directly with you, or if you would prefer, we can contact the owners. All attempts will be made to keep your patients care within the flat rate stated above.

Xylitol poisoning in dogs is on the rise. Xylitol is a sweetener found in sugar-free chewing gum, candy and baked goods. Substantial amounts of items sweetened with xylitol can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure resulting in depression, loss of coordination and seizures. These signs can occur as soon as 30 minutes after ingestion of the product so veterinary treatment is urged immediately. Even small concentrations of xylitol are proving dangerous with detection being veiled by a delay in the onset of clinical signs as much as 12 hours.
